New Walking Path in Malin
The Malin Community Park has a new walking and jogging path. The path design was modeled after similar paths in Eugene, Oregon. Criss Duncan, track coach and local Malin resident, wanted to see more activity opportunities in Malin. He approached the Malin Community Club, who helped fund the project by donating $4,500 from the Stastny Memorial Fund. The rest came from Duncan.
The path is one mile long and is carefully constructed in and out of tree canopies around the parameter of this beautiful park. Overlaid in low impact bark makes this route ideally suited for walking and jogging. Duncan and a volunteer workforce, including Connor Hartman, the Lost River High School student that was paralyzed this summer in a 4-wheeler accident, constructed the path. Hartman worked the Track-Hoe and did the digging for the entire path.
The Malin Community Park hosts many events throughout the year and provides a beautiful, quiet place to enjoy picnics, swimming, reading, concerts, movies, or watching your kids play on the play structure.
We want to thank Mr. Duncan for his vision and hard work to enhance the park and the community by creating an opportunity for people to get out and move!
